A trauma-informed presentation for young people

This programme is an age-appropriate, trauma-informed presentation designed for Year 11 and 12 students. It focuses on awareness, early recognition, and support helping young people understand themselves, each other, and where to turn when something doesn’t feel right.

Too often, changes in behaviour, emotions, or friendships are misunderstood or missed. When awareness comes too late, young people can spend years struggling in silence. This presentation aims to provide students and educators with the language and understanding to recognise concerns earlier, before harm deepens and years are lost.

Why I Created This Programme

When I was growing up, the signs that I was struggling were there but they weren’t recognised. Friends and adults later told me, “I wish I had known.” The truth is that they lacked the knowledge or awareness to understand what they were seeing.

Because of my own experiences, I realised how powerful early awareness could have been - not just for me, but for the people around me who wanted to help and didn’t know how.

I created this programme to give young people a voice, to help peers recognise when something isn’t right, and to support teachers in understanding behaviour through compassion rather than punishment. It’s about opening conversations safely, reducing stigma, and reminding students that speaking up can change outcomes.

Who It’s For

This programme is designed for:

 • Year 11 and 12 students

 • Schools, colleges, and education settings

 • PSHE lessons, wellbeing days, and assemblies

It is delivered in a safe, responsible, and non-graphic way, suitable for mixed groups.

What the Presentation Covers

Students are supported to:

 • Understand identity, individuality, and self-worth

 • Recognise feelings, emotions, and healthy coping strategies

 • Identify signs that they or a friend may be struggling

 • Learn about boundaries and healthy relationships

 • Navigate social media pressure and perception

 • Understand where and how to seek help safely

The focus is on awareness, prevention, and reassurance not fear, blame, or disclosure pressure.

Why This Programme Is Free

I do not believe that access to awareness, education, and support should depend on a school’s budget or a young person’s circumstances.

Many of the students who need this information most are the least likely to have access to private support or external services. I currently have a go fund me page to try and pilot and launch the safe seen and heard programmea and put things in place to be able to maintain the programme long term.

Prevention saves years.

Awareness saves futures.
